Transpanther and Groovetruck have joined forces with father time on a singular mission: to create the most epic and unbelievable concert event of the season.
“I don’t care how we’re going to pull it off, and I certainly can’t imagine why”, says Transpanther Group’s owner/operator, Daniel Fahrner, “The city’s expectations must be shattered, it’s that simple”.
Jimmy Pruitt, co-founder of Groovetruck Entertainment, recently remarked “This lineup could out-sell any arena tour in any city in any country on any day of the year, it’s just that unbelievable”.
The lineup they’re referring to, of course, features the all-star local cast of musicians that have helped put Indy on the international music map and helped shape the city’s musical future below.

America Owns the Moon is back! The band has been hard at work at Queensize/Twin Air studios on the follow up to its cult classic debut release. They mean business!
The Academy reforms to bring it’s sugary sweet and lustful pop gems back to life. Fronted and anchored by the magnificent Fry brothers formerly of Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s.
Otis Gibbs has made a living sharing his honest “love songs for young radicals” with the rest of the world. It all started here in Indiana for Otis, making this performance all the more special.
Vess Ruhtenberg has established himself as one of Indy’s premier musical visionaries. Some of his past accolades include The Pieces, United States 3, The Lemonheads, and the Zero Boys.
This event is also sponsored by A Squared Industries, My Old Kentucky Blog and Musical Family Tree.

Dead Zone Boys is an infectious soundtrack to humanity\’s last stand against decay and the dead. One hand with mic and the other a shotgun, Jookabox pushes through as troubador and protagonist to free the decayed city and its few outposed survivors of the fear of death. He is our protector, no need to lose hope.
Dead Zone Boys, the third album from Jookabox (Indianapolis-born David \”Moose\” Adamson and Co.) on Asthmatic Kitty Records, is love story meets psychedelic zombie-musical. The zombie part came easy: Moose grew up on the east side of Indianapolis in the 90s, an area plagued by constant recession, pandemic homicide, and racial tension. It was this frantic energy and violence that infused itself into the Jookabox experience. Since then, the area struggles to revitalize and Adamson’s musical interests and excursions have crystallized into a startlingly singular and eclectic songwriting strategy. One thing is certain here: if vacant strip malls occupied only by shitdragged liquor stores and fluorescent check cashing joints are foreign to you, then Dead Zone Boys will be your guidebook, Jookabox your tour guide.
Jookabox’s debut record, Scientific Cricket, sampled a kind of primordial blues sound, children\’s sidewalk-chalk rhymes and Appalachian folk. Sophomore follow-up Ropechain pinwheeled like a kaleidoscope through old-time spirituals, punk, and club music hip-hop, blending these disparate elements into a cohesive and unique synthesis. Thematically both albums have dealt extensively with the paranormal, race, and madness. Last year after wrapping up Ropechain, the genre-warping Jookabox lost a Grampall (after a haunting vision), and regrouped, gaining a second member/drummer, Ostry Okerson. This year Jookabox absorbed two-fifths of Indianapolis\’ psych-pop ringleaders, Everthus the Deadbeats. Led by the stalwart Moose, this new band delivers a tightly realized live show and album replete with nods to early Ween, Black Sabbath, and fellow Indiana native, the King of Pop.

The Fearsome Sparrow -http://www.myspace.com/thefearsomesparrow
Come join us for a lovely evening of beautiful music that will make your heart flutter!
KaiserCartel is a duo based out of a lovely loft in Brooklyn that send your hearts flying with happy melodic sounds of life! The intimate feeling their music presents to the audience grabs you in and holds you tight. Courtney and Ben’s talents will capture your hearts! This is a wonderful duo you won’t want to miss!!
Elsinore is a Midwestern band emerging from a tunnel of transition. After spending 3 years playing Americana/Folk music with an acoustic guitar, the band decided to turn up knobs and stake claim on some land in the Indie rock frontier. Passionate riffs, foot-tapping choruses, tasteful pop hooks and joyful 4 part harmonies fill in the holes from their Americana deconstruction.
The Fearsome Sparrow Review from Resonator Magazine:
Their brand of melancholy, girl-meets-boy idm has two seasons in which to fit, Autumn AND Winter, instead of 365 days of sunshine. Liz Godoy’s sweet, plaintive soprano and Brenden Beu’s charmingly unsure tenor are enough to make you fall head over heels through your headphones, while glitched out, skittish electronic textures keep things from becoming cloyingly sweet.

Throughout the last 14 years, the enigmatic trio known as Marmoset have fostered a near-mythical cult status with their claustrophobic, moody, and ethereal blend of indie pop. With a decade-plus of Secretly Canadian-released albums under their belt, Marmoset have found a new home with Indianapolis-based label Joyful Noise, who began re-issuing their catalog on vinyl in 2007.
The band’s new album “Tea Tornado” will be released worldwide on August 4, 2009 via Joyful Noise and Redeye Distribution. On Friday August 14 the band will celebrate the album with an official release show at the Melody Inn, with special guests (Grampall) Jookabox, Pravada, and The Coke Dares. $8 admission includes free copy of “Tea Tornado”.

Transpanther & ISC Present:
Drakkar Sauna w/ Dawes
Thursday, May 14th
Local’s Only
8:00 / 21+ / $8
Non Smoking
Drakkar Sauna – http://www.myspace.com/drakkansasauna
Dawes – http://www.myspace.com/dawestheband
If not the first, then surely the most common question we are asked is how
we came to name ourselves Drakkar Sauna. We want to tell you. We want
you to know, if only so that you’ll stop asking. It makes us feel vulnerable,
it makes us feel judged.
We thought it sounded like a palindrome. What it comes down to is we
didn’t have any scratch paper handy and our understanding of what a
palindrome is wasn’t accurate. But that’s what happened. ‘Drakkar’
sounded like a palindrome. So did ‘Sauna’. We thought that two
palindromes would make one bigger palindrome. Obviously, we were, in
part, mistaken. I hope now your curiosity is satisfied and you will not
think too poorly of us for our incomplete command of the language.
We live in Lawrence, Kansas and are fathers to three full-length
recordings, rover (04), drakkansasauna (05), & Jabraham Lincoln (06).
We have recorded, also, an ep, Hunger Overcame Us (04) and helped
produce a feature video, The Blood Feud (05), a work of fiction. We are, in
all things, supported by our union with Marriage Records. We have toured
the U.S.A. a few times. We have toured with Dark Meat and the Vomit
Lazers Family Galaxy, Split Lip Rayfield, The Impossible Shapes, Two
Gallants, Magnolia Electric Company and by ourselves.
Our names are Jeff Stolz and Wallace Cochran and we get along well.
